Dr. Jason Oakes
Apologetics & Worldview
Jason teaches worldview and apologetics classes at Veritas. He grew up on a cattle ranch in the panhandle of Oklahoma before attending Oklahoma State University, where he graduated with a BA in philosophy. From there he earned a MDiv in Biblical and Theological Studies from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and studied one year as a visiting graduate student in philosophy at Oxford University. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. philosophy from the University of Oklahoma where he defended his dissertation in Early Modern philosophical theology. He serves on the preaching team at Grace Evangelical Free Church in La Mirada and teaches as an adjunct professor at both Biola University and Azusa Pacific University, along with managing a start-up business. When he is not teaching, Jason enjoys spending time with his family, walking his dog (Steinbeck), and grilling food in his backyard. A verse that has been instrumental in his teaching and ministry is 2 Corinthians 10:5b where we are instructed by Paul to take every thought captive to obey Christ.
