Marcelino Salazar
Math & Science, PE
Mr. Marcelino Salazar graduated from the University of California, Riverside College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences with a B.S. in Entomology and Biola University School of Education with a Master of Arts in Teaching. He has taught an after school English Learner program, was a substitute teacher for a year at Mountain View School District in El Monte, and tutored several students over the years in mathematics. He was also a college/high school Bible study teacher and taught separate adult and primary children Sunday school classes. Mr. Salazar believes Christian Classical Education presents knowledge as an integrated whole centered on Christ Jesus leading students toward worship of God, virtuous living, critical thinking, and clarity of expression, all of which prepares students to “be ready in and out of season” to proclaim the truth of God (2 Timothy 4:2). This form of education is important to him as he raises his 3 children with his wife Kim. As a pastime, he reads books on various topics (theology, literature, science fiction, history, fantasy, classical education, science) and when possible dabbles with drawing and painting. With his family he enjoys watching movies and playing board games. A Bible verse that has stuck with him since he first professed faith in Christ is Deuteronomy 13:3b-4, “For the Lord your God is testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him.”
