Kathryn McKeever

Literature, Rhetoric and Drama Teacher

Mrs. Kathy McKeever has been teaching at Veritas Classical Academy for five years.  She graduated summa cum laude from Thomas Edison State University with a B.A. in Liberal Arts.  Mrs. McKeever spent nearly twenty years teaching in a home school private satellite program, where she served on staff as the academic counselor for families with students who had special needs between 1999 and 2018. She directed Upstart Crow Shakespeare Theatre from 2002 to 2017, producing full-length productions of Shakespeare’s plays with students between twelve and twenty-two years old.  From 2013-2021, she was on staff at Fullerton Free Church working with adults with special needs.

Kathy chose classical education methods in teaching her own children, and she loves helping students find the truth, goodness, and beauty in literature, drama, and poetry. She especially loves the “ta da” moments when students realize that something written hundreds of years ago has something important to speak into their lives today.  Her passion projects are putting on Shakespeare plays, organizing Rhetoric Week, and helping kids find their unique voice writing poetry.

Kathy and her husband Jim have three adult sons, three dogs, and four cats. They both love working in the garden, and they both enjoy thrift store shopping. As an educator, one of her favorite Bible verses, Proverbs 25:2, reminds us that wisdom and knowledge are a glorious quest: “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter;     to search out a matter is the glory of kings.”
