Born and raised in Southern California, Mr. Matthew Sun is a literature teacher at Veritas Classical Academy. Matthew graduated from University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in English, and then graduated from Biola University with a M.A. in Secondary Education and Teaching. Mr. Sun is also involved in the local public school district, and formerly counseled/ taught at a local evangelical church. Mr. Sun currently teaches Grade 7 Literature and Ancient Literature. He loves how classical education focuses on critical thinking and considering all perspectives, an important skill in an ever-competitive global work environment. He also enjoys Veritas' focus on Christianity: providing a rigorous and bible-based curriculum to advance students academically and spiritually. During his free time, Mr. Sun likes to play Ultimate Frisbee, watch basketball games as an avid Lakers fan and keep up with the latest car and technology news. He also enjoys eating good food and spending time with his friends and family. His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 1:6, which reads: "And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ".
