Stephen DeSena
5th/6th Grade
Stephen DeSena holds a B.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies from Biola University and is a graduate of the Capital Fellows Program in partnership with Reformed Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., where he focused on Christian leadership, vocational discernment, and spiritual formation.
Stephen brings a rich background in ministry and education. Currently serving as the Junior High Director at Redemption Hill Church, and having served at Hume Lake Christian Camps along with churches and schools across the U.S. His years of hands-on experience in teaching, discipleship, and pastoral care have shaped his conviction that education is not merely about information, but about transformation. He is passionate about classical Christian education because it aims to form the whole person (heart, soul, mind, and strength), training students to love what is true, good, and beautiful under the lordship of Christ.
When he’s not in the classroom, you’ll probably find Stephen on a hiking trail, playing guitar, experimenting in the kitchen, diving into theology books, or taking off on a last-minute road trip. One passage that keeps him grounded is Colossians 1:28–29: “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” It’s a daily reminder that his role as a teacher is ultimately about helping students grow in Christ — with all the energy God supplies.
